Sickness continues....

Brayden  caught a cough this week and it has triggered his asthma.  HE started having cough on Sunday and was struggling at school on Monday.  I got a call from the nurse and she said he was using his inhaler and it wasn't working.  So I went to get him and took him to the doctor to get some updated meds.  They gave him some steroids and a breathing treatment and he seemed better.  But he continued to struggle and I found myself becoming BFF with the school nurse ha!  She called every day this week and I went up at least once a day to the school to give him a breathing treatment.  We are hoping he is about to kick this virus to the curb!

Also Jay got sick this week too and finally after several days of a terrible cough went to the doctor.  He had tonsillitis and a nasty cough and got some meds.  He seems a little better but still struggling.  He leaves the country Monday morning so hope he gets better quickly!

Asthma stinks!

This week has been rough on my boy! Brayden has some kind of cough/virus and it has triggered his asthma.  I have been  up to the school 3 days in a row to get Brayden, give him meds/breathing treatments, take him to the doctor etc.  We are still kicking it and hopefully he will be better soon!

A wonderful weekend planned...epic fail.

We sure did have a fun weekend planned....and OHHHH how things took a turn.  A really bad one.

On our agenda we had a sleepover planned, 4 birthday/baby reveal parties to go to, a possible reunion with the Johnstons that were in town, church and a baseball practice.  That plan quickly got turned upside down in about 10 minutes.

My friend Paige and her daughter Mari-Morgan came over Friday night for a sleepover and Eli was already here too and he and Brayden had already made this cross completely their idea and nailed it and everything.
We were sitting around eating pizza when all of a sudden I started feeling nauseous....like REALLY nauseous...and quick.  The pizza smell was grossing me out and all I wanted to do was lay down.  I told Paige how I was feeling and it went downhill fast.  She decided to end the sleepover (good call!) and offered to take both Karis and Lucy home with her for the night and Marybeth agreed to come get Eli and take Brayden home too.  I absolutely HATE asking for help I am a do-it-all kind of mom and God used this experience to totally humble me!

Oh and did I mention Jay was out of town...like out of the country...in INDIA (which is why I needed help and why Paige was coming over for a sleepover)!  Every time he goes out of the country somebody (or all of us) get sick. Without. Fail. Every. Time.

So to spare you the details, I had the stomach bug.  I was ok as far as the sickness by the next morning but was still VERY weak...like couldn't get off the couch or bed for hours (which is NOT like me).  But about lunch time I went and picked up Brayden and Paige brought the girls home (with lunch in tow...what a great friend!).

The girls had a blast of course and I snapshotted these pics Paige took while they were there.  Glad they were having a good time because I clearly was not

So by Saturday afternoon I had to get out of the house but I knew we couldn't really "go" anywhere so we went to a playground around our house that nobody really goes to.  I let them play for hours while I made myself a little pallet to sit in the sun and read.  That is about all the energy I had.  Yea and that banana...didn't eat it. NO appetite..none.

Our neighbors ended up coming by and (after I quickly warned them not to get close to me because I had been sick), they offered to take my kids to their family belated Easter Egg Hunt they were having that night.  I said yes and was glad to come home and take a shower when I got a call saying Brayden wasn't feeling well.  UGH!

Yep so Brayden had a rough night and he too got sick.  Our weekend plans were clearly out the window and 3 kids were devastated (understandably so...I was disappointed to but we didn't want to share the germs).   So Sunday Brayden was feeling weak as I was but he bounced back a lot quicker than I did.  I decided to take them fishing at the nearby lake because again we were going crazy in these 4 walls!

So how does one tired momma survive this terrible, horrible, no good, very bad weekend?!  A mocha frappucino (yep...venti!) works every time...even with no appetite.  For the record I normally get a grande but after no appetite for going on 3 days I figured I could splurge!  And I drank every drop!
Whew...what a weekend.  Glad it is over and that the girls didn't end up getting it.  Being 5 days post-sickness and having cleaned our house completely, I hope our house is in the clear.

JUST IN TIME FOR DADDY TO COME HOME THIS AFTERNOON...isn't that the way it always works?! By the time you read this, we will be on our way to pick him up from the airport!

Either way I can not wait to hug and kiss that man...I have missed him terribly!

Ready to kick this virus to the curb!

I got a call Thursday after lunch to come get Brayden from school because he had a temp.  By the time we got home he wasn't feeling too bad that day but I took him to the doc on Friday morning to rule out flu, infections etc.  They ran the flu test and it came back negative.  Because he was having asthma issues (brought out by whatever this virus was) she went ahead and treated the symptoms with Tamiflu even though the test came back negative.  The doc said it wouldn't hurt.  By Friday night, his fever was 103 and he was in the bed ALL day/night.  The first 24 hours weren't too bad but then it got nasty.

During everyone else's naptime on Friday I helped him finish off his car.  This is before the bad part hit.

Friday night we had a family movie night and Brayden even denied ice cream.  I knew then he had to be feeling terrible.  He had eaten nothing all day and still didn't want ice cream.  But the rest of us enjoyed some. :)

Since Jay had his sinus mess since Tuesday he was down and out too so the girls and I decided Saturday morning to go to the laundry mat around the corner to wash my comforter...we had to get out of the house bad can you tell?!  Brayden was pretty much bedridden/on the couch all day and still didn't hardly eat a bite although he did drink.

My boy was pitiful.  He had absolutely no energy was rotating out meds every 3 hours for days, breathing treatments, night meds, coughing constantly etc.  He was so weak and often just wanted me to hold him or cuddle him on the couch.

Sunday the girls and I went to church and left our sick boys at home.  Brayden didn't run fever that morning but afternoon it spiked again.

Monday, while fever free, worked on his school work some.  You can see how tired his eyes look and so pale!

Then Monday he was fever free again until about 2 p.m. and it spiked 103 again.  It was getting so frustrating to see him get better and then get sick again.  SO since the doctor told me if he wasn't better by Monday to come back, back to the doctor we went Monday afternoon.  They did the flu test again and it still came back negative and checked his white blood count (the finger prick didn't go so well!) and it looked good.  I guess it is just some really nasty virus going around.  I texted his teacher and asked her if this was going around school and she said yes.  She had had FIVE kids out Friday and Monday and the office had sent home 35 kids on Monday due to being sick.  We are hoping nobody else gets it!  So far, so good!

Monday Brayden had been requesting a McDonalds happy meal all day and so we decided if he thought he would eat it, we were taking him.  He has been so weak from not eating anything and has lost 2 lbs. since Thursday, so I was willing to give him ANYTHING he would eat!  He did eat all of his chicken nuggets but nothing else...progress!

Then he wanted to watch a movie so we had another movie night (it's the only thing he has had energy for in a week!).  During the movie he grabbed my hand and melted my heart.  He has been so sweet, cuddly and precious the whole time he has been sick.  I hate him being sick (seriously nothing worse than your kids being sick), but I have LOVED these cuddles!

We are on day 6 of this nasty virus and hoping to be fever free today!!!!!!
