Today Jay was off so we planned a quiet day at home for the most part and just enjoyed us all being home and nothing to do! We stayed in our pjs most of the day until the afternoon when I took Brayden to Walmart to spend his birthday money that his Nonnie and Pop Pop and Grandmother and Pinto gave him. He was so excited about getting to pick something out....he had lots of ideas!
Brayden has such a big giving heart sometimes. He can be a rough, wild boy but he can be so sensitive and would give away his last of anything to someone else. Karis asked if she could get something and I explained to her that this was Brayden's birthday money and that when it was her birthday she could go shopping. Brayden said, "Sissy I will get you something with my money!" And boy did he! He picked out 3 things and then that was it he wanted to save the rest for Karis. He doesn't quite understand the value of money but he ended up giving her half his money so that she could get some paints she was wanting. It brought tears to my eyes....what a big heart he has!
He chose this "grabber" he called it, this dirt bike that he has been eyeing for some time and some glow in the dark stars for their room. I knew he had money left and kept suggesting other things and he would say, "Nope mom that is all I want. Let's pick out something for Karis!"
He bought her all these paints and paint brushes and she loves them! She has already used them twice in the last 24 hours!
Then we grilled out steaks which we don't do often but we were both craving them. We had steaks, fresh corn on the cob (Karis' choice), asparagus and hollandaise sauce (our fav!) and baked onion (cooked on grill in al. foil with worchestire and butter). It was so good!
Jay bought the kids some little fireworks for 1/2 off and the kids loved getting to do them. They did bottle rockets and smoke bombs.
My little organizer went and collected the sticks each time...haha! She is definitely my child!
Brayden can NOT unplug his ears during any fireworks. Oh well...whatever it takes.
We got 2 redbox movies (one for us and one for the kids) and we all came in and watched our movies and ate chocolate chip cookies....yum! The kids picked out Little Mermaid 3 and Jay and I watched Valentines Day (yep I picked it out). We went upstairs at like 10 to tell the kids to go to bed and both of them were already in their beds asleep. They must have been super tired!!! They usually go to bed between 8-9 but we let them stay up late to watch a movie and they shocked us and went to bed on their own! It was a great day with the family...wish we had more days like this!
