Karis' 10th birthday

Happy 10th Birthday Karis!

With today being also the sacrifice holiday in our part of the world, everything was closed and everyone was spending the day with their families.  We had to get creative to celebrate her all day in our home.

But first this is our celebration with friends a few days prior to her birthday...

So Karis woke up to 10 balloons hanging from the ceiling.  Each one had a number in it and every hour on the hour when my alarm went off she got to pop one and open the gift with that number on it.  It made the fun last all day!

She also got to choose the three meals of the day.  She chose blue pancakes for breakfast, bacon cheese sandwiches for lunch and chicken and dumplins' for dinner.

We went in with Lolli and Pop to get her a sewing machine she has been wanting.  She was so excited!

Sacrifice Holiday

Karis' birthday this year happened to be on this country's sacrifice holiday.  Each family sacrifices a lamb or a cow in remembrance of what Abraham did according to their book (which is different from the Christian story in the Bible).  We drove around some to see what all this holiday is about.  We were stunned, heartbroken and aching for a people that need truth.
