My 33rd birthday

I am not one to be big on celebrating my birthday (especially as an adult because it is kinda depressing honestly!), however spending it on vacation in Destin with my family is a very nice way to spend it!  I woke up to cards and a gift from my family and a day on the beach in the works!

Jay gave me a lifeproof case for my iphone.  I have been wanting one of these so I was so excited!  It is completely waterproof and you can take pictures underwater supposedly although I can't quite figure that part out.  For some reason mine wasn't sensitive to my commands while under the water and I have heard of others doing the same.  I am going to read up on it some more.  But I still love that I don't have to worry about it getting wet and getting ruined!

Then being our last day of vacation, I wanted to spend some of it on the beach!

Like most days, we stopped by the pool to swim for a bit after the beach.  It looks like it wore somebody out!!!

That afternoon we washed clothes and packed to come home.  :(  But of course my momma called me at 4:44 p.m. as she always does on my birthday because that is what time I was born.  :)

Then that night was the opening ceremonies for the XXX Olympic Games and I wanted to have sushi and watch the Olympics.  So that is what we did and it was great!

Yum!!!!

Jay even surprised me later on with a cake he had gotten for me for us to celebrate!  I can't believe I am that old ha!

Great opening ceremony at XXX Olympics too!

What a wonderful birthday spent with my sweet family!  I am truly blessed!

Shell Island and Seaside

At the last minute when we woke up this morning, we decided to pack up and head an hour away to Shell Island.  Lolli had tried taking the kids twice when they were there and it ended up being closed both times due to weather.  So the kids really wanted to go so we made it happen.

It was a neat little island.  It is uninhabited and you have to take a ferry boat over (about 10 minutes away) and on the Gulf side of the island are huge waves and lots of shells to collect (pictures below). On the other side of the island are calmer and shallow waters great for snorkeling.  We headed to the Gulf side first because Karis was dying to find shells.

Shell looking...

This is on the calmer side.  There is a bigger section but we liked this little section because no one else was over there and good for the kids to look for things.

There was a storm rolling in which was great weather because it was cloudy the whole day until we were ready to leave and then it started raining.  It was beautiful!

On our way back home, we wanted to make a stop halfway at Seaside which Jay and I have always loved.  It is very high end and so chic.  The houses are HUGE and it is just such a neat little community.  We ended up staying around there until bedtime and enjoying the town.  Check out some of the houses...amazing!

There are these really cool food trucks in the middle of town that are so neat!

The famous Pickles...we ate there last time we came.

They have some outdoor shops that are so cute.

We were already in our bathing suits from Shell Island so we let them have fun at the beach too.

JUMP!

Lucy was literally rolling in the sand.   She had a ball!

In the center of Seaside they have this little grassy area and a theater which is great for kids to play around.  Once a week they have a family movie here and there are blankets everywhere.  It is such a family oriented place...I love it!

What a great day!  We came home dirty and exhausted but it was all worth it!
