K and B's first EVER school dance....

Brayden (6th grade) and Karis (8th grade) went to their first middle school and first EVER dance!  I gave them the option to go but seriously thought they wouldn't want to.  Unfortunately I was wrong and they decided they wanted to go at the last minute.  They were excited and mom was......not.  But they had a good time, and said they didn't slow dance so all is well ha!

Nana 2's visit to Memphis!

Nana 2 came to town!  She flew from Orlando to go to her Aunt Bernice's 100th birthday party and after staying there for a few days, she came to stay with us!  While the kids were in school we got out some during the day and walked around the shops of Arlington.  We really enjoyed this time with her!

1st day of school

Well for the first time in 5 years, the kids are going to public school.  We are all a little (a lot) nervous about it but feel like it is the best thing for now.  We have lots of mixed emotions including excitement, fear, nervousness, anticipation, etc. and ready to do it!  We spent weeks getting everything ready from school supplies to backpacks to the perfect outfit and shoes and the day has finally arrived.  All woke up excited and ready to go!  We did drop off first at Karis and Brayden's school then to Lucy's.  We even got through it without any tears (although mom did tear up a bit).  I long for them to succeed, love it, have friends and a fun experience, and learn a lot.  I prayed for them all day and couldn't wait to pick them up!

Promotion Sunday

So today is promotion Sunday and Brayden is moving from the children's department to the....

YOUTH GROUP!  

Karis is moving up to 8th grade and Lucy will stay in the 3rd grade since she is repeating.

Happy Birthday Lolli

We surprised Lolli for her 61st birthday by dropping by with some donuts and starbucks!  She was surprised and it was fun to do with the kiddos!

We had a family get together to help celebrate Lolli's birthday.  They didn't have a "6"1 candle so "21"will have to do!

Today was Brayden's last event for the kid department because Sunday he moves up to the YOUTH!  

School Registration Day

Today we went to register the kids for school and meet the teachers and see their classrooms.  It was a great day and let them see what to expect on the first day of school.  

Lucy is going to 3rd grade at Oak Elementary School.

Karis will be in 8th at Appling and Brayden will be in 6th at Appling.

Back to school shopping

One of my favorite parts of school starting back as a kid was getting to go back to school shopping!  I love the new school supplies and new clothes and shoes and new beginnings, etc.  And it seems my kids love it just as much!

Back to school at Douglass

Faith Baptist brought out lots of volunteers to hang out with an underprivileged school in our area to welcome them back to school.  We have somewhat adopted this school  for the year and have certainly enjoyed being a part of it so far!  The smiles on these childrens' faces was priceless!
