Ear piercing with the birthday girl!

Today is Karis' best friend Mari-Morgan's 7th birthday.  We met Mari-Morgan, Nathan and Paige at the park this morning to play.  Lucy loved MM's dolls she brought...imagine that!

Brayden was especially sweet to Lucy.  They were finding "treasures" in the grass.

We surprised MM with some balloons.  Tomorrow is her party but we wanted her to feel special on her real birthday.

We left the park, all went to lunch together (dads met us there), and then we took the girls to get their ears pierced.  Let me back up...everytime I ask Karis if she wants to get her ears pierced, she screams, "NO WAY!"  She has never acted interested because she is super afraid of pain.  But just this past week she has some blood drawn in her arm and didn't even cry...just took really big breaths and then it was over.  So MM was going to get her ears pierced today and I thought it would be a perfect opportunity for K to do it...with her BFF on her birthday.  I reminded her how good she did the other day and she didn't even cry and suddenly she decided she would do it.  So off we went...HOPING they would not change their minds once we got there.

MM went first and you can see the trepidation on her face.  They both did mention..."We don't want to do it anymore!!!"  But we both said "Oh yea you are!"  They both put their brave panties back on and went through with it.

Before the piercings..

This was right after MM got hers pierced...you can totally see the facial expression change from the previous picture.  Here she was telling Karis, "It didn't even hurt!!!!"

I know at this point Karis wanted to run, but she didn't.  She just hopped right up in the chair and got ready.

Before the piercing...she was showing me she was going to hug this bear.

Getting the purple dots...you can see the blood drain from her face here....

And it's done!  Yahhhhh!!!!!!  Admiring her newly pierced ears....

Of course the girls picked out matching blue flowers....Karis' favorite color.

AFTER...the girls are two very PROUD chicks!

I was soooo proud of her.  Last week she totally would have NEVER done this.  But for once getting blood work paid off and she realized how brave she could be!  It was so special that the girls got to share this special moment together on MM's 7th birthday!

Oh and I had to share this...tonight we were getting kids ready for bed and we go in the bathroom to brush teeth and not only had Karis already brushed her teeth AND cleaned her newly pierced ears with the cleaning solution, but had gotten Brayden's and Lucy's toothbrushes ready for them and left a note.  Isn't she a doll????  She just grinned really big.  OH she is growing up and I can't stand it!!!
